SRM 2.53: small update
22/08/2011 18:49
Version 2.53 is a small update with mostly optical improvements and a couple of bug fixes. These are the changes:
- Track Power now also switchable per lane, allowing collection of cars at the finish after a race (depending on the type of race you choose).
- Now you can go straight from the Slot Car Data screen (containing best times per car) to the Race screen to try and attack your best times for that particular car.
- New Timing Screens show more info and better looking digits, now three different sizes for better visibility.
- In Settings, "Delete non-best times" is now gone, all times are now kept automatically.
- In Settings, "Show on Timing Screen" is now gone, all info is now shown always (you do not have to choose anymore).
- New timing sensor Set Up routine, because the old one had a bug that prevented selection of a second parallel port.
For people that have updated: it's necessary to set up your relays / OUTPUT pin settings again, since they have been shifted after updating from v2.52!
SRM v2.53 can now be downloaded here!

SRM v2.41 in progress
12/01/2009 23:52
It has been a long time since I worked on SRM, but recently I started picking up where I left off a couple of years ago...
The slot racing bug is back again. Well, actually it never left, but other non-slot racing projects took all my time. I am in the process of building a wooden, 3 lane track and timing that will again be crucial ofcourse.
I was wondering how many of you guys are still using SRM Slot Race Manager 2? Ofcourse a lot of you will have moved to digital racing and SRM does not support this, but to my surprise many still race analog tracks and have lot's of fun doing so. I still frequently receive requests for SRM, to send the program or if I still add new features. Well, as most of you probably know, development of SRM has withered and died somewhere in 2005, freezing the program in the middle of version 2.40, leaving only a Beta version of that one. For some time now I have had the plan of completing this version and to maintain a proper bugfixing status. Adding new features is not on top of the wishlist at this moment, but who knows what the future brings?

SRM v2.40 Beta3 released

After the release of version 2.30, things got a little hectic for me. My company (having 1 dedicated server and 10 work stations) runs on administrative software which is all developed and maintained by me. In 2004 we were still running on MS-DOS software (developed on Clipper, just like SRM2) which was developed in 1996! Running this old crap on Windows XP machines was getting harder and harder, so I had to look out for a new, modern programming language, learn it and write all new software from scrap. Keep in mind that writing software is not my day job, just a hobby! In 2005 I came across Realbasic, a multi platform developing system on which you could rapidly write software for Windows, Mac and Linux systems. I started the mammoth task to learn the language and do a full rewrite of all our business software. Within 4 months, I had a working prototype and in the beginning of 2006, we migrated to „Comos”, the new software for my company. When Comos was completed, I had not worked on SRM for several years and getting back to it was hard, because it was written in a very old computer language I hadn’t used in quite a while...
That is why I release this incomplete version 2.40 of SRM. It has many new features, but not all are completed yet. This version is still a work in progress when I had to abandone it and I did very little since then. Because of this, not all functions fully work. All old routines work though and I use this version myself on my three running tracks for a couple of years now.
New:
- Speed Trap for speed calculation on a predefined piece of track,
- Top Speed saving per car and per driver,
- Multiple sensors per lane for interval times and Speed Trap,
- Lane Attention Lights to show a fastest lap per lane or to show the leader (not finished),
- Track Power stays off when leaving timing screen,
- Fixed printing bug (woops),
- Exported/printed reports are now saved in their own REPORTS directory and with comprehensive names,
- Each different report has it's own name so it will not overwrite other reports,
- New report added in Print Menu: Driver Ranking,
- Improved Race Results screen and Race Report after a race,
- Penalty option in Championship mode: you can manually add time or (portion of) laps as penalty or extra completed track,
- Last Starting Tree light duration is user selectable: random or 1 second,
- Sound at end of race can be switched off (saves frustration when testing with programming too ;-) ),
- You can choose to show Fastest Lap or Track/Driver/Car info on timing screen.

SRM v2.12d bugfix release
01/04/2003 22:44
This small update fixes a few small bugs and one in particular that hunted me quite some time: sometimes people asked me about a bug that after a race they stayed in a loop when SRM asks you if you want to enter a best lap, you type Yes, and the program asks you again! I found out this was because SRM did not accept cars or drivers with codes of 1 character. Fixed this! Read More...

SRM v2.10 released
23/03/2002 22:50
Version 2.10 containing the Championship Mode is currently available as a final release!
This version now also includes a correct manual (which the beta did not have yet) and has a few minor bugfixes since the last beta06 version. I am sorry that relais support is not included, but I wanted to release the Championship Mode as soon as possible, since the requests for that were piling up. Read More...

SRM v1.03
01/01/2000 23:06
New:
- input time in "track & time" needed a check, when inputting times without adding "0" at the beginning, you got real stupid tracktimes!
- no "hometrack" anymore, just a "current track" that SCM remembers from the last time and possibility to change the current track in the CAR-screen (thanks Chris Moellering!)
- changed some keys (e.g. 50 lines in "track & time" is now F5 instead of spacebar)
- introduced a filter on one car, all cars of one driver or all cars of one class
- removed a bug in the "track & time" screen: it sometimes showed times of one track for different # of laps
- now SCM shows more than one screen of carhistory
- introduced printing and ASCII-exporting routines
- introduced car datafield "race class"
- introduced car datafield "manufacturer"
- introduced car datafield "chassis description"
