The SRM website now has a new Track Pictures section, where people can show their SRM timed tracks. Please send me your photo's and I will put them up there!

New support forum!

As of today we have a new Support Forum! Unfortunately, the old one was hacked and beyond repair, so I now used a free forum site to host a new support forum since some people asked for it. You can visit it by clicking on "Support forum" in the links.

SRM 2.52 has a bug in the parallel port setup

A couple of users reported that the parallel port setup did not work correctly and they are right. I completely rewrote that code for the 2.52 version, but in doing that I introduced some bugs which become visible when you are using a non-standard setup. It seems that inverted pins (pin 11) get read faulty, which results in an error "Sensor is blocked, restarting timing" when starting the timing in SRM. The same problem occurs when you don't have your timing hardware hooked up to parallel port #1 (LPT1). Since SRM2 is famed for working with ALL sorts of parallel ports setups and with all pins on the parallel port, I will fix this.

I am now in the process of rewriting again, but you can fix the problem temporarily by using the program TIMESET.EXE from an older version of SRM (preferrably previous versions 2.42 or 2.50).

Sorry for the inconvenience!

SRM used at Student Technology Program

It's always nice to get pictures or stories of people using SRM on their home- or club track. Last week, I received a very surprising new application of SRM from Paul Shoemaker. Read More...

Mixup in the News section?!

Last week I found out that the News section was all mixed up! Headlines and stories were completely out of sync, so I had to retrieve a backup file and manually copy and paste all stories to the current version of my website. Strange thing, but it seems to be fixed!

We're getting there!

Well, today was a good weekend! I locked myself in my room to get some solid coding done :-)

Last week, I had some race events on my Corvette Speedway track and that was a good moment to do some testing on the last beta version 6 of SRM 2.50. I found some bugs, as did some of the beta testers, and was able to fix them. There was also a lot of other work to do...

Championship Template

On and off I worked on SRM 2.41 now and I fixed quite some bugs already! Most of them are small ones, but still.

I will also introduce a small new feature in the Championship mode that some people requested: a template for setting up a championship. With this TEXT based file, you can start up a Championship without all the hassle of inputting lots of contestants and their cars, if you often race with the same competitors. You can just set up a template file, that you can use over and over again. You can manually change the file, if some parameters change, but you can also start up a new Championship the old fashioned way and then SAVE it as a template for future use. The template contains all important info about the Championship: mode, amount of rounds and laps/time, all contestants and their cars. You can quickly add or delete contestants in this file and then fire up the Championship in just a few minutes.

After the support forum got used less and less and the forum code was so old, it got hacked and spammed on an almost weekly base. When a succesful hacking attempt destroyed the forum, I decided to terminate it perminently. Sorry for this!

Delay of v2.10

I am very sorry, but version 2.10 is getting delayed for several monts. This is due to a very consisten case of RSI and the fact that my company is moving to another location, a process that is taking up a lot of spare time for the next couple of months. Read More...

4 lane timing capability

This one I wanted to save for release 2.1, because with the way SRM2's timing routine was written, it would cause too much slowing down to check all 4 lanes reliable. But: every time an HO racers was interested in SRM2, he asked me if 4 lane timing capability was available. Read More...

Timing trigger rewrite

Because of the growing request for 8 lane and/or multiple track timing, I am in the process of rewriting most of the timing trigger and setup routines.
