Corvettes
All my life I was crazy about American sports cars, especially the Chevrolet Corvette. Since it's 4th generation, I really fell in love with the whole concept of a sleek sports car with a great V8 sound and ofcourse dito performance. So... I had to get one. Fortunately, that time would come soon! Click on "My Corvettes" to see which Corvettes I own(ed).
In 1996 I became a member of the Dutch Heartbeat Corvette Club and in 1998 I started managing their website. In 1999 I also became editor of the club magazine. In 2004 I had to give up this work because of less spare time. Ofcourse I'm still a member of this club and I am still administrator of the Dutch Heartbeat Corvette Forum, a digital meeting ground for Dutch speaking Corvette enthousiasts.
Somewhere in 2000, a couple of guys and me also started a website about this great car at www.corvette.nl. In 2007, this domain was claimed by GM Europe for marketing purposes. At that time, I started a new website at www.corvettes.nl with a new purpose: trying to collect as much information on as many special Corvettes as possible on one website.
My personal favorites are the ZR-1 (above) and the the Callaway Aerobody (below).
The 1990-1995 ZR-1 is one of my favorite cars. It was also known as King of the Hill for being the fastest production car in the world when it was introduced in 1990. The car had the famous 375HP 32 valve DOHC engine which was designed by Lotus and built by Mercury Marine. I also own one myself: a 1993 Polo Green II with a black interior, putting out a whopping 430HP (being 25 more than the stock 405HP of the '93 model year).
The Callaway Aerobody is a bodykit developed for the Callaway Twin Turbo (also called "B2K") and SuperNatural Corvette (SNAT) and it’s very high on my wish list. The SNAT is a follow-up of the original B2K factory option. The expensive B2K option got you a fast C4 with a factory equipped Callaway Twin Turbo upgrade. When the LT-1 engine replace the L-98 engine, the B2K option and the Twin Turbo concept was dropped and Callaway went on with a tuned version of the LT-1, only this time it was an after market option. To further enhance the fast B2K and SuperNatural, they designed a new C4 look, which was sold under the Aerobody name and was based on the famous and one of a kind Callaway Sledgehammer.
Sexy ass....
